Radio Deep Underground (“we”, “our”, “the station”) is an independent online radio. We respect your privacy and process the minimum amount of personal data needed to broadcast our stream.

1. Cookies we use

This website uses only technical cookies and local storage strictly necessary for audio playback and to remember your preferences:

  • rdu_cookie_consent — Stores the fact that you have acknowledged the cookie notice. Local storage, no expiration.
  • Audio playback state — Volume and last play position. Local storage only, never sent to a server.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking on this domain.

2. Audio stream

When you press play on our website or in our mobile application, your device connects to our streaming server (radio.radiodeepunderground.com). We operate AzuraCast on our own server. The server processes your IP address and user agent to deliver the stream, maintain the service and prevent abuse. Your IP address is also used to estimate your country or city for audience statistics. This is approximate location derived from your internet connection, not GPS location. We use these audience statistics within Radio Deep Underground and do not send them to an external analytics service.

3. Mobile application (Android and iOS)

This Privacy Policy also applies to the Radio Deep Underground mobile application for Android and iOS.

Favourites and preferences. Your favourites and application preferences are stored locally on your phone to remember your choices between sessions. When you add a favourite, the application also sends the track title, artist, artwork URL, track identifier, date and time, application version, and randomly generated technical identifiers to our WordPress server at radiodeepunderground.com to record the like. When you remove a favourite, the application sends a request to delete the corresponding server record; failed requests may be retried when you use the application again. Clearing local application data does not itself delete records already sent to the server. For deletion requests, contact radiodeepunderground@gmail.com.

Connections to our radio server. The application connects to our radio server to play the live audio stream and retrieve station information, including the currently playing track. These connections require an internet connection and involve the transmission of technical connection data, including your IP address and the user agent sent by the application.

Technical data processing. Technical connection data is processed by the radio server to deliver the stream, maintain the service, diagnose connection or playback problems, prevent abuse, and produce the audience statistics described in section 2. Local storage of favourites and preferences is separate from this technical processing: storing your choices on your phone does not prevent the server from receiving the connection data needed to provide the service.

4. Embedded third-party content

Some sections embed external players (SoundCloud, Spotify). When you interact with them, those services may set their own cookies, governed by their own policies:

5. Music licensing

Music broadcast on Radio Deep Underground is licensed through SACEM and SPRE for the European territory. Now-playing metadata is fetched from our station server and is not personal data.

6. Donations

If you support us through PayPal or Ko-fi, the transaction is handled entirely on those platforms. We never see your card details. We may receive your name or alias and the donation amount.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the European GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify or erase any personal data we may hold about you, and to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France: the CNIL — www.cnil.fr).

8. Withdrawing consent

You can clear the consent stored in your browser at any time by clearing this site’s local storage in your browser settings.
